An event called Udaan, Beti Padhao Beti Bachao took place in collaboration with Womenite and District Magistrate of West Delhi at the Surajmal Stadium, Nangloi. The program encompassed various girls from different Government schools across Delhi. The aim of the function was to make changes to the conservative thinking of people in society, to eliminate gender inequality and promote equal opportunity towards women in the society. The girls were accompanied by their parents who were overjoyed and proud to have given birth to such wonderful gems.
The program called upon girls who made not only their family but the whole nation proud with their exemplary performance like Ms Saumya Sharma who surpassed with 9th rank in the UPSC exams. Moreover, toppers such as Neha Jain, Akriti Bansal and other such girls graced the occasion.
They motivated the students and enlightened them about various opportunities awaiting their presence in the near future. The program provided a great chance for the girls to speak their minds.
Questions regarding female safety and defence, measures to deal with the fear about Civil Service examinations etc. were put up and were answered to overcome the dilemma of the students.
The event commenced by introducing Mr. Satyendra Jain (Hon’ble Minister, Delhi government) as the Distinguished Guest for the day followed by Saraswati Pooja and lightening of the lamp by Mr. Parvesh Verma (Member of Parliament) who served as the Chief Guest , Mr. Sanjay Goel (IAS Director, Education, GNCTD) who was the Presiding Guest , Ms. Sunil Dabas (Padmashree Awardee, Women Kabaddi coach) who was made the Guest of Honour .
Mr. Satyendra Jain, in his speech, mentioned that girls play a major role in deciding the future of the society and therefore parents should be vigilant enough in regard to their education and welfare.

Ms Sunil Dabas inspired girls to work extremely hard in the academic sphere but also motivated them to take part in Sports and establish themselves in life.

The program showcased India’s culture with the help of diverse dance performances by girl students from different schools and a special performance by the Womenite team members showcasing the problems that girls are facing even in the 21st Century and need immediate attention.

A number of street plays were also performed by theatre groups across Delhi concentrating on major issues relating to women in the society. One such play by the ‘Asmita Theatre group’ projected issues such as eve- teasing and sexual assault which rendered the audience dumbstruck.
The hard work and the talent of the schoolgirls were given representation through the display of items such as paper art, bags and photo stands created by them. Some of the stalls were put up for the welfare of the society providing a free health and eye check-up and distributing medicines which were free of cost, which makes it pretty clear that the program had also taken special care about the development of the society as a whole.
All the volunteers and the girl students were even provided with refreshments. The girls in this program were specifically put forward in every job and their work and rigorous diligence made this program successful. All in all, the event proved to give a new definition to the well being of women and motivated all the girl students to achieve their goals in life.
