Knock Knock! It’s New Year!

Here comes December and with it, the much frenzied year comes to an end! Raise your hands if you have already started making plans for the year end bash. Well, here I am for a little help. While you might be thinking of the top partying destinations in your city and deciding on the passes and tickets, there are like gazillion things you can actually do to welcome the New Year! Whether it is partying the night away with friends and family, or a romantic getaway or an adventurous trip, there are different strokes for different folks!

Looking for ideas to spend your eve? Here are some crisp tips:

Go party or Welcome the New Year in Adventure Style
For some, New Years is all about partying. You can opt for the beautiful and exotic beaches of the south. Try one of those beautiful beach locations, and go for a romantic long walk along the seashore with your dear one. Or if you are an adrenaline junkie and simply love adventure sports and fun activities, welcome 2015 in your own unique style filled with fun and adventure. Head for a midnight trek or go camping and welcome the New Year with bonfire and star lights!

Keep it simple silly!
If you are looking for a simple relaxed evening with close friends and family, there is no better time like the New Years. It is the end of the year, and there is hardly any work pressure anyone faces (Well, nobody is in a mood to work anyways!) take this as the perfect opportunity to call all your close friends, family and loved ones over for a quiet evening, and welcome the New Year peacefully. Spend a quiet evening with your family, pondering the fun times you had the year before and the learning experiences you have had in 2014. It is the perfect time to express feelings of love and happiness to one another.

Become Santa Claus
Play Santa Claus for your friends and family. You can celebrate the New Year eve by sending gifts to all your friends. Buy small baskets and fill them with small little delicacies like chocolates, CD’s, DVD, and visit everyone’s place or call them at a common place. You will never forget the joy that this little gesture will bring on their face.

Be you. Make mistakes
New Year means forgetting the old and cuddling the new. You might be planning to reboot yourself and making a fresh start, forgetting the past mistakes. But my friend, it is a universal truth that resolutions don’t really last for long! So why not just chill, take it light and remember these words by Neil Gaiman, “I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something. So make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”

Fall in love with the chaos
My Delhi people! Explore “Purani Dilli”.This is where you get to feel the pulse of real national capital. As you make your way through narrow streets filled with people, you start to wonder how people can live in such a chaotic place. But soon enough, you fall in love with the chaos and the liveliness of the place. And don’t forget the endless list of food items that you can go hunting for in these narrow, tapered lanes.

Charitable New Year
Spread some love and happiness this New Year. If you are planning to get a new wardrobe for 2015, then why not gather all the old clothes and belongings and give it to some charitable organization or orphanage. You can even gift sweets at an old age home and bring a smile to someone’s face this New Year. So start saving your pocket money, folks! Believe me, such small actions result in far greater complacency.

Do nothing, watch TV!
Finally, if you are simply not in the mood for anything, you can spend a quiet evening at home with a bowl of popcorn wearing your favorite PJ’s and welcoming the New Year with the million different shows that air during New Year’s Eve! Or go for an old movie with coffee and blankets.

New Years is a time of newness, reflections, celebration and togetherness! While these are some different suggestions on how to spend your New Year’s Eve, you can simply do anything you feel like this New Year. After all, it is all about dishing the old and welcoming the new! So why not begin the year with a Bang!

“Hope, Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering ‘it will be happier’…”
― Alfred Tennyson
